The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. In April 2019 we moved to Hounslow House, a new landmark building located in Hounslow town centre, our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.
About the Team
You will work within the Community Partnerships Unit, a committed, community focused team with strong links across the Council and with external stakeholders. You will work closely with an existing Grants Manager for the Fund.
Key Responsibilities
1.Manage an exciting grant fund for Hounslow’s residents and civil society organisations, ensuring that the processes, structures and support are in place to facilitate projects that are sustainable, outcome focused and meet the needs of Hounslow communities.
2.Support the identification of revenue and capital projects to be funded across the variety of funding streams that make up the Thriving Communities Fund, including Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy and Housing Revenue Account, managing the criteria for use of such funding.
3.Manage the implementation of a new grant management system, including through the design and procurement stages.
4.Ensure that funding allocations meet expected requirements and that robust monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems are in place.
5.Work closely with residents, community and voluntary organisations and other civil society groups to support the development of bids and the delivery of projects across the borough, with a particular focus on areas and communities that have had a lack of investment in the past.
Your Skills
1.Proven experience in assessing, managing, monitoring and evaluating capital and revenue grants in either a grant-making trust or a public grant-maker.
2.Excellent knowledge and understanding of the civil society, the voluntary and community sector (VCSE) and issues affecting their development.
3.Strong understanding of community involvement and experience of supporting communities to develop local initiatives.
4.Excellent relationship management and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels within and external to the Council.
Essential for The Role
1.Degree in a relative subject or equivalent level of experience.
2.Experience of working with a wide range of communities and stakeholders.
This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
