The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. In April
2019 we moved to Hounslow House, a new landmark building located in Hounslow town centre, our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.
About The Team
Our Housing Adaptation Service supports some of the borough’s most vulnerable people. We support adults and children with disabilities to achieve greater independence, opportunities, and safety at home.
We are a multidisciplinary team, with Case Workers, Handypersons, Surveyors, Occupational Therapists and a Coordinator, delivering of a range of adaptations and repairs to enable independent living at home, and we are expanding. This is a great opportunity to join an established and growing service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively with your colleagues and partner agencies to ensure all clients get the very best opportunities to live independently and safely in their homes and on, intervening early wherever possible.
2. Manage workloads within and across teams to ensure resources are targeted in the
right place at the right time and cross cuttings issues are identified with joined up
solutions borough wide.
3. To provide leadership and direction for a team of Surveyors and Handypersons to support delivery of an efficient adaptation programme to Council residents and of the Council’s statutory Disabled Facilities Grant and Handyperson repairs service to residents in the community.
Your Skills
1. You are an experienced Surveyor with Substantial technical expertise in building construction and regulation. You can interpret and implement relevant legislation and regulations relating to Housing adaptations.
2. You can provide leadership and direction for a team of Surveyors and Handypersons. You are committed and focused with the drive to define clear service standards and inspire people to achieve them.
3. You are a great communicator to engage effectively with a broad range of people to influence, negotiate and persuade.
Essential for The Role
1. You have a HNC/degree or equivalent and/or relevant experience.
2. High level of technical skills including the use of CAD.
3. You have demonstrable work experience and can evidence continual professional development.
4. Enhanced DBS check is required for the role.
This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the employee specification.
